8th Grade Trip to Mackinac Island Monday May 18th - Tuesday 19th 2026
What: An annual educational and fun overnight trip for 8th graders.
Destination: Mackinac Island and Mackinaw City.
Activities: Tour of Fort Michilimackinac, exploring historical sites, and spending time on the island, hotel waterpark, and great times with their peers.
Dates: Monday, May 18th and Tuesday, May 19th.
Cost & Payment Information
Total Cost: $250 per student.
Cost will include: hotel room, transportation, pizza buffet, bikes on island, ferry tickets
Deposit Due: A non-refundable deposit of $50.00- required by Wednesday, March 18th to reserve a spot.
Payment Plans: Arrangements can be made to spread out payments if needed.

Drop money off HS/MS Office. Please make checks payable to North Muskegon Public School.
Fundraising: Opportunities to fundraise for the trip will be announced in early spring.
Important Policies & Procedures
Disciplinary referrals: Students who have discipline referrals will be reviewed by administration and may not be permitted to attend.
No Cell Phones: Students are not allowed to bring cell phones.
This is to ensure students are fully engaged with the trip and their classmates.
Communication: Parents will receive contact numbers for the chaperones to reach their child in case of an emergency. Students can use a chaperone's phone if they need to contact home.
Bag Searches: All student bags, luggage, and coat pockets will be searched by chaperones before departure to ensure everyone's safety. Officer Robart or administrator will be present.
Male chaperones will search boys' belongings, and female chaperones will search girls' belongings. This is a standard safety procedure for the trip.

Details about a future parent meeting will be sent out closer to the trip date. We will discuss medical information and details about the trip.
